Use of thermoelectric generators to harvest energy from motor vehicle brake discs

چکیده

The challenge of reducing vehicle energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions has become a major orientation automotive industry research throughout the world. Improving optimizing power by electric vehicles is special concern. A novel use thermoelectric generators in braking presented. Thermal analysis brake pads discs using finite elements was applied to evaluate potentially available form heat produced friction involved braking. We present stimulations disc heating during after at three ambient temperatures reflect on possibilities recovery warm as well cold climates. results show that although yield electrical from typical about 0.3% total thermal associated with braking, least 4 W can be made available, enough on-board instrumentation devices thereby improve efficiency motor vehicles.
